The Port Wine Museum is settled in a warehouse dating from the eighteenth century that belonged to the Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro (Alto Douro Vineyards General Company). It is intended to be an information centre on Port Wine, able to lead the visitors throughout the commercial history of the city as it relates to the world famous wine.
As a museum of the Port Wine commercial activity, this building integrates pieces of archaeology, ethnography, faience and china, furniture, textiles, copper engraving plates, glassware and many other interesting elements including a documentary set worth seeing.
The Serralves Foundation is a cultural institution established for public benefit. Its aim is to stimulate the public's interest in contemporary art and environmental issues, using as its principle vehicles the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, a multidisciplinary cultural centre designed by the internationally renowned Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, and the Serralves Park, a natural landmark which comprises a 1930s mansion, surrounded by an 18 acre area of gardens, wood and farmland, dedicated to environmental education and preservation. The Spaces offered by Serralves can be used for many purposes, such as cultural tourism, exhibitions and guided tours, as well as group events, dinners, seminars and child activities.
The Tramcar Museum, open since 1992 and with the effort of the S.T.C.P. (Porto's transport services), was created to become a lively and dynamic institution, so that the collective memory of Porto, a World Heritage City, is not lost but solidified instead.
The permanent exhibition comprises a collection of 16 tramcars, 5 tramcar trailers, 2 backup cars, engines, armatures and combining components.
The building where the Museum is installed can be rented for events such as banquets, cocktails and special events. The tramcars can also be rented for special transfers along the waterfront during the event.
